Our Policies at Highland Kennel

The Nuts and Bolts of Highland Kennel

Highland Kennel is dedicated to doing what is right for every pet’s well-being. This page outlines how interactions are handled, ensuring pets stay safe, happy, and comfortable while in our care. Following these policies helps create a smooth experience for both owners and their furry friends.

Reservations

All stays require reservations to ensure a spot for your pet, although last-minute requests will be considered whenever possible. Any visits or services outside of regular business hours are available strictly by appointment. Planning ahead helps guarantee the best experience for your pet.

Cancellations

Cancellations should be made at least 48 hours in advance. This allows time to adjust schedules and accommodate other pets. Failure to provide proper notice may result in a cancellation fee, as this policy helps keep operations running smoothly and fairly for all clients.

Person Picking Up Pets

If someone other than the primary owner will be picking up a pet, Highland Kennel must be notified in advance. Pets will not be released to anyone without prior authorization. This policy protects both the pet and the owner and ensures a secure handoff.

Animal Health

All boarding animals must be in good health with current vaccinations. Flea-free pets are required, though flea and tick baths can be provided if needed. Any required medications, vitamins, or special care instructions must be provided by the owner. Staff will administer medications as directed for a small fee. Full and accurate histories must be provided. If a pet becomes ill or needs medical attention during a stay, a licensed veterinarian will be engaged at the owner’s expense. These measures ensure each pet receives safe, attentive, and professional care.

Payment Policies

All bills for boarding and services must be paid in full before a pet departs. Payments are accepted via credit card, cash, or in-state check. A $40 fee applies to bounced checks, and any additional collection costs are the responsibility of the pet owner. For monthly boarding, the first month’s fee is required in advance. Discounts may be available, so owners are encouraged to inquire about current rates. New Jersey sales tax of 6.25% applies to all goods and services.

Personal Property

Highland Kennel is not responsible for personal items left with pets, but every effort will be made to return belongings.

Animal Pictures

Photos of pets may be posted on the Highland Kennel website and social media for everyone to enjoy. Owners may request that images not be posted or removed at any time.

Smoke-Free Environment

Highland Kennel is a smoke-free workplace for the health and comfort of all animals and staff. Smoking on the premises is strictly prohibited.

Right to Refuse Service

Highland Kennel reserves the right to refuse service at any time for any reason deemed necessary. This ensures the safety, comfort, and well-being of all pets in our care.
